Made it Monday & Merry Mondays

I have had a full weekend of projects. They are not all done so I am going to share with you a small project I did this spring to solve a water issue we were having. I am joining my second and third linky for the day 4th Grade Frolics: Made it Monday and My Pinterventures: Merry Monday!

Three years ago, I decided to redo my front flower bed. I spent a week and way too much money but finally got the bed the way I wanted it.

Only problem, the plant in the section right beside my front steps died and every time I would dig out the lava rock {a whole different foe} and plant a new plant, the same thing occurred. This has gone on for nearly two years. Finally after my husband "someone" left the soaker hose on too long - more than once, I realized how much of a slope there is to our yard. I was shocked! Water pooled right in that dreaded spot. I realized I must have been drowning my plants - especially with all the rain our area gets plus that dang soaker hose.

My solution came by way of a happy accident. The hubs and I love flea markets, antique stores, yard sales and the like. On one of our many trips I happened upon two steel wash tubs I just had to have and they had been sitting in the shed for months. Now I had the perfect use for one of them. If I couldn't plant in that spot I could always put a planter. My fabulous husband drilled holes in the tub and tada:

And just for a little fun, here is the FABULOUS Birchbox I got Saturday in the mail. I cannot wait to try out my new goodies!

  1. Your yard looks AMAZING! I wish I had a green thumb, but sadly, I do not! :*( Your planter turned out cute. I actually have one of those metal tubs! I should put it to use...and have someone else take care of it! Lol!
